Audio Consulting
Shamblin Sound offers comprehensive audio consulting/consultant services for
improving everything from Sound Systems to Room Acoustics, and all points
in-between. With 35 years of across-the-board experience in audio ranging
from recording to live sound reinforcement as well as performing, along
with a solid reputation for honesty and integrity backed by being an
accredited BBB business without a single complaint, we offer certain
advantages over other audio companies who may only be interested in
selling you more equipment that you might not even need.
In contrast, our primary goal in Audio Consulting is to help you get the
most out of what you already have, with as little additional investment as
possible. Since we are not an equipment retailer, and do not tack on the
typical additional "percentage override" on equipment purchases made on your
behalf, we simply have no motive as your Audio Consulting/Consultant
representative to sell you things you don't really need. However, we can
provide you with any equipment that you do need, and at unbeatable prices,
on a direct-ship basis right from our national suppliers with absolutely
no markup whatsoever! This is one of our main advantages that sets us apart
from the competition.
In the words of Contemporary Christian recording artist Greg Crowe, "Your
biggest advantage is the fact that you don't sell equipment!" (Successful
solo artist, nat'l syndicated TV show on PAX "Backstage With Greg Crowe,"
in addition to groups such as Poet Voices, The Southmen, etc.). He recently
called us in for his church, Valley View Baptist, because over and over
with each company they tried, they were sold more equipment instead of
fixing the existing problems with the equipment they already had. We were
able to make a substantial improvement in sound quality without any
substantial investment in new equipment. Often times major gains can be
accomplished from such things as the proper repositioning of speakers,
addressing wiring issues and operator errors, rearranging the stage layout,
and even bypassing gear that is doing more harm than good. We approach
things on the basis of what's best for you; not our wallet!
"I have been working with Michael Shamblin for over 20 years in several
music endeavors. Recording in-house projects, Jingles, Demo's, LIVE
recordings, and recently revamping our sound system and acoustics at my
Church. Mike is always knowledgeable and ahead of the curve when dealing
with new and updated systems that help you obtain the best sound available.
After traveling across the country and dealing with many sound consultation
and studio services, I always find myself calling Mike because I know he
will be honest, educated and give me the best chance for superior results!"

Similar improvements have been accomplished in similar ways with our other clients as well.
We have even found ways to effectively resolve problems that other companies had deemed
undoable. While each client has different needs, the outcome is the same; a very noticeable
improvement in sound, with a very minimal investment.
Our Real-Time Analysis procedure can make any system sound better. All serious
recording studios as well as sound reinforcement companies always perform this
procedure before utilizing the system, because of the vast difference in
performance it can make. This process involves feeding a signal of all
frequencies at equal loudness, in random, commonly referred to as "pink noise"
into the sound system. Then a highly-sensitive calibrated microphone picks
the sound up and feeds it into a real-time analyzer which shows you visually
on-screen exactly what you are hearing, sound system and room acoustics
combined. While most people's ears can tell them generally whether there's
too much or too little highs, mid's, or low's, this is very specific and
much more accurate and divides the entire frequency spectrum up into 24
discrete bands per octave, so that highly accurate adjustments can be made.
This information can then be utilized in achieving a near-perfect e.q.
curve on the house equalizer in order to counteract the peaks and dips.
The results are a much smoother-sounding system with more clarity even at
lower volume levels, and the results can be often quite amazing. Before-and-after
graphs can be printed out, showing the improvement in the sound, along with
hearing the results.
